Help For Beginners
Okay, so, here are some tips for starting up on Howrse!
The biggest thing is to be online as often as possible. The first few days you are on, you need to be on and keen. The Game Play forum is a great place for asking questions, and I will often be one to answer (rumbel18). But for now, just go on, take care of your horses and train them.
TRAINING
Training is absolutely essential. The first horse you get will be trained for, you, but you need to be able to train them yourself. So, how I do it.
The moment your foal/filly is old enough to be boarded in an equestrian centre, play with it every day. Use about 60% of its energy, and then feed it and groom it (etc). Then play more, using about 30% of its energy. If that is too confusing, just play with it using 94% of its energy the first time. Turnips are a good source of energy, so if your horse is less than 15%, give it a turnip.
Soon, your horse will be able to go for rides. Ride your horse every day, choosing a different terrain and varying the ride times. Make sure your horse has less than 40% energy each night, but more than 20%.
When your horse is ready to be trained, train every day. Personally, I like to disable simplified training and then train my horse in the chosen criteria for around 90% of its energy every day. For my females, I like to age them a few times a day and train them quite a lot. Why? Because females are the ones to breed.
Breeding
I, personally, am breeding high GP horses. So, I will be talking about how to get better horses and GPs! The first bit of breeding higher GPs is that the more trained the mother and father are, the better quality the foal is. Also the better GP the mother and father have, the better the foal is. So, what I do is I always train my females harder and more than I train any other horses. I use more aging points on the girls, as I want to train them faster. Don’t worry if your horse isn’t fully trained when you cover her, just make sure that the stallion is fully BLUPed.
When I look for a covering, I search for high GPs, 100% BLUP and (preferably purebred). Depending on the breed, search for different GPs. For example, I breed Arabs, so I search for 1200+.
Continue training your mare until she can no longer train due to the foal.
Then start the cycle all over.
